The major selling point of the games is gore, which doesn't translate to mass market toys. And MK really doesn't have that pull for toys. Mass marketed toys need to sell 10 times that. There are enough nerds to buy 2000 statues. Statues, made in very limited number, can sell.

No one wants toys based on those figures. They ended up going on clearance a few weeks after release.

I saw those in 1995 when I was hardcore into MK, and I was one of the few that bought them all at retail. Street fighter was far more successful than the mortal Kombat Hasbro toys. I know, I constantly emailed them, and called local toy and comic stores every week for months when they were supposedly released. A VERY small number was released to test markets, but IC died before they could secure mass release deal. Infinite concepts planned wave 2 at the same time as wave one. One of my local TRU stores even had Shao Kahn's throne for two years on clearance. I have 3 local TRU stores, and several Walgreens stores, they have had the same night wolf and clear raiden toys for almost 3 years. Tell me again how MK is a "loser" license?Easy, my ex was a manager for kb toys before it collapsed, and they got all the extra jazz ware crap that didn't sell at TRU. Pop Shock Collectibles have been making statues and busts for some time. Palisades made a line of limited run statues. Infinite Concepts collapsed on itself, but still had plans for a second series. They may have sucked, but they obviously sold well enough for Jazwares, and Toys R' Us-in that Jazwares kept making them, and stores kept buying them.

Jazwares held the license from 2005 until last year.

It was never intended to go past the movie (like the Street Fighter line that Hasbro did, and that's a "winner" property). Hasbro released two series, and vehicles. You have no clue what you're talking about.
